What is B E A U T Y ?

What is beauty?

Everyone want to be beautiful. It is a part of our human nature wether we are male, female, young, or old. The desire for physical beauty and the ability to recognize it is ingrained in our human psyche. Infants instinctively light up at a pleasant face, cry at a ugly or distorted expression. It shows a built in signal of danger. At age 4-5 children are well aware of subtle physical differences of people, and judge of appearances. Children love to explore and elaborate on their glamour that they can make of the themselves. Children stare in the mirror for hours and play dress up.. and its extremely fun! Every individual society has found its own way of decorating and celebrating the beauty of humans. This is where the age old quest in contemporary American life has come with so much fixation on images fueled by media and advertising combining the idea of age and health. Overtime the ideas of beauty, which are so overall stressed to be perfect have eroded to “good looks”. You can “look good” and not be healthy. Your mind is stronger than your body.. Society makes us think, if we keep gaining the right wardrobe, makeup, personal trainer and what’s new on the market we will be whole. We will be beautiful. I’m not saying this to disregard and bash the new clothes lines, beauty products, fashion or advertisements. I love fashion, trying new beauty products, and media.. but I am saying this to help others gain insight of what is the truest form of beauty, which is happiness. The most beautiful thing you can wear is a true smile. The worst thing we can do is compare ourselves and add to our mental aging. Comparing yourself to others can heighten or strike depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and other self esteem problems. In some ways these industries are playing out the psyche of how we dress up as little children. Which I love dress up.. I still love to dress up myself! Dress up is the same montage as self affirmations. Although the high style media makes us have a two dimensional view of physical perfection. Society in many ways has lost sight of what it means to “ be beautiful”.

Modern medical techniques & advertisements have led us to hope that we can find eternal youth and beauty in a bottle and freedom from disease in taking pills. For years we have spent billions of dollars trying to get just the right creams designed, to stop our aging process. Today, we see on the shelves so many items including food, and products saying “natural”. While if we read the ingredients half of the stuff is unpronounceable, probably meaning it’s not natural, and your body and skin shouldn’t be drinking this. Everything you put on your skin, is soaked into your body. When applying lotions if were thirsty, what would you want your skin to drink. So when you do go to by the new “ natural” creams, take into thought that the federal standards don’t restrict companies from printing what they want on labels. America has spent billions annually looking for the right “ potion”, and still no find. We can’t use the creams & serums and hope this will stop nature’s aging clock. Mother Nature is in full control. Aging is inevitable. I want to help people find the beauty in aging, and show others that we can age gracefully, and naturally.. with a healthy lifestyle. Many people are more likely to pop a pill with negative side effects or undergo surgery than change their daily habits. Sadly, even health insurers will cover someone’s medications but won’t cover them to take a natural healing, meditation (stress management), yoga, gym membership that won’t deteriorate other aspects of their body. If we live a preventative life we lower our chance of disease, and live a long happy life. We shouldn’t only focus on the treatment of the acute disease, but the entire person as a whole. You can’t truly cure a sick body with treating one single section you have to care for the entire body. For example, taking antibiotics for a long period of time for a infection can make your body resistant to them, and break down your gut bacteria which is the key to having a healthy body. You will experience other issues from the antibiotics long term. There is no quick fix approach.. we must take everything we do into consideration. Less is more.
Moderation is key. It take effort to maintain youth in yourself. If I didn’t work on myself everyday, I would be years behind. I still have lots of work to be done, everyday I strive to meditate, maintain and manifest. Feed your mind, body and soul healthy fruits, vegetables, and grains. Finding a routine & regime that fits you is the most important.
A three step external routine is the bare minimum you should do everyday to counteract the daily environment, stress and skins natural process of cell degeneration. External products only alleviate the manifestations of disease & aging not the cause itself. You must cleanse and nourish the body mind internally where all disorders begin. We are all so very different made up of different constitutions or dosha percentages. All born in different places, our environment, air, and genes guide us to what we need most. Ayurveda says, consuming local seasonal fruits and vegetables from the area you stay is best to obtain a healthy glow and complexion. This is why not one herb or oil will work for everyone. Embrace your individuality.
For now beautiful aging isn’t in a bottle & and never will be (If anyone finds the secret ingredient like tuck everlasting, let me know). It is all about the routine and regime. Self care isn’t something you should be ashamed of.
The true secret to beauty comes within the heart, mind and body.
