LOVE BUG SPRAY
BUG SPRAY
The air
is getting a bit chillier with fall season in the horizon. The bugs come
swarming to buzzkill the evening around the bonfire. The little blood suckers
are drawn to our natural inherent scents. Some mosquitos seem to be the size of
birds, and others are no-see-ums. Of
course, they all seem to swarm and bite at once!
DEETS ON DEET
What is
the Deets with DEET? Bug bites are the worst because the itch last long and
kids will itch them till the bites bleed and scab. DEET is present is so many
commercial bug repellents, and widely discussed in the media about safety. Dr.
Abou Donia, a Duke University pharmacologist, found that “rats treated with an
average human dose of DEET (40 mg/kg body weight) performed far worse than
control rats when challenged with physical tasks requiring muscle control,
strength and coordination.”In the same study, Dr. Abou Donia found that
DEET caused “neurons to die in regions of the brain that control muscle
movement, learning, memory and concentration.” (source)
The pharmacologist says that children are at a higher risk for brain changes
after DEET exposure because their skin absorbs it more readily. There are
plenty of natural alternatives. A study found that Geranium oil works
comparable to DEET in avoiding bites!
LOVE BUG SPRAY
Non chemical alternative, there is a
combination of essential oils, acid rich plant oils and moisturizing
ingredients. The ingredients organic and 100% natural, helps repel the insects
and slow down the absorption of essential oil, creating a longer lasting. Let
the glamping begin this fall when you won’t have to put your fashion
sensibilities and skin care to the side. They are first priority !
